PROJECT 6:33 – A Spiritual Journey at GCOG

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33
Our culture is one that is busy and demanding; our attention span has been trained to be short and quick.  Everything goes against our spending extended time in solitary meditation and prayer.  Yet, we all yearn to have that kind of relationship with our Lord.  How can this be accomplished?

One of our goals should be to move from being a spectator to a participant.  Our Lord gave us His example by being a participant in the prayer experience.  He prayed all the time.

Matthew 6:9-14 contains the Lord’s Prayer.  The disciples had noticed that prayer is a learning experience and is the connection to the power of Jesus.  The Lord’s purpose in teaching us this prayer was not to recite a 13-second prayer, but to demonstrate an effective prayer time.  These verses were meant to demonstrate topics that should be covered in our own personal prayer time.

Praise: “Our Father which art in heaven. Hallowed be thy name.”
Yield control: “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Provision: “Give us this day our daily bread.”
Confession and forgiveness: “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.”
Praise: “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen”

All four of these areas that Jesus Christ demonstrated through His prayer are important.  As our church embarks on a Spiritual Journey together, we encourage you to meditate on these four areas.  It is easy to begin and end our prayer time giving God praise, or asking God to provide for your family. It can even be a simple task to ask for God to forgive you. But the real test is to conform to the will of God. Will you begin to Yield Control of your life to God’s perfect plan?  In order for our church to minister to our community and bring more people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, we must begin to yield to God’s desire.  We are Building the Future at Gainesville Church of God, but in order to be successful, our entire church body needs to do three things:

Participate in Project 6:33 by

  • Signing up to receive a text message at 6:33pm as a reminder to pray for ONE minute.
    • Pray that God will give you clear instruction as to how you should give sacrificially during our Capital Campaign (24 months)
    • Pray over our church leaders
    • Pray that our church will grow during this process so that we may impact more people within our community
  • Read the daily Scripture verse
    • The scriptures will be delivered through our txt messages at 6:33pm
    • Scriptures are also available on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and our website
  • Participate in a partial fast at some point within the Spiritual Journey
    • If you need clarity and more direction on what God is asking you to do sacrificially during the campaign – fasting is a great way to hear more clearly from God.
    • Fasting is also helpful during times of spiritual growth. Fasting allows you to connect more deeply to our Creator and Lord, Jesus Christ.
We encourage you to take part in PROJECT 6:33 – A Spiritual Journey. If you currently do not receive our church-wide text messages, you can sign-up by texting the word EZGCOG to 313131.
